The Christmas tree is truly the pinnacle of holiday decorations, so what better way to start off the season than by heading to The Skirvin Hilton hotel for the Holiday Kick-Off & Tree Lighting on Tuesday December 7. From 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. enjoy holiday music, refreshments and good conversation as we welcome in the Christmas season with an incredible Christmas tree light display to end the night. 

Help celebrate 20 years of Downtown in December

Look no further for fun for the whole family than at the 20th annual Downtown in December celebration. This incredible holiday event takes place in the heart of Oklahoma City, and this year, it’s back with an incredible lineup of activities to help you commemorate the season. 

Nothing says Christmas is here quite like dusting off your ugly Christmas sweater, and this year, The Melting Pot has just the event for you. Their annual Ugly Holiday Sweater Party will once again take place on December 7, so break out your best worst sweater and get ready for a night filled with fondue. 

For the 10th year, the Holiday pop-up shops will be in full swing in Midtown. No two weeks are exactly the same, so stop by again and again to explore dozens of local shops you’re sure to love. With live music and visits from Santa Claus himself sprinkled throughout the weekends, there will always be something new to bring you back next time. 

Who says sledding is just for the kids? At the Winterfest at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, your whole family can enjoy a fun-filled day of winter activities. Race down the tracks in your snow tubes and finish off the day enjoying the atmosphere with a cup of hot chocolate in one hand and a holiday treat in the other. 

Visit Guthrie and be transported back in time

There’s something especially magical about the Christmas season, and that feeling will surely surround you if you take a trip this year to Guthrie, Oklahoma. For 35 years the city of Guthrie has been home to the Territorial Christmas Celebration, an event that is known around the country as a perfect mix of historic beauty and modern marvel. Spend an enchanting evening strolling through downtown Guthrie and marvel at the beautiful Victorian style homes that line the streets.

This season, let the magic of music wash over you with some truly incredible shows in Oklahoma City. 

Mark your calendar for Wednesday, December 8 when the Trans-Siberian Orchestra comes back to town. After a livestream performance last year, the talented musicians are packing their bags for this year’s live event taking place at the Paycom Center. For an evening of classic Christmas wonder, there’s no better place to bring your entire family than the Civic Center Music Hall for an awe-inspiring showing of The Nutcracker ballet. This Oklahoma City staple will leave you feeling as if all of your wildest dreams have come true.

Speaking of classic Christmas shows, we can’t forget to mention the timeless tale of A Christmas Carol, returning for its 11th year in the city at the Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma. With countless shows throughout the month of December, don’t miss out on your chance to enjoy this holiday tradition.

With over 500 displays within 100 acres of land, this event will truly remind you of the magic of the season. That’s not all, though—the event also features the Santa Express Train ride and an ice-skating rink for a night filled with holiday fun. 

If you aren’t in the holiday spirit after all of that, try looking up at a 118-foot Christmas tree topped with an 8-foot star and lit with over 9,000 bulbs while you’re seated in a horse-drawn carriage and see if that does the trick. The Midwest City Holiday Lights Spectacular is an extravagant event you’ll find yourself coming back to each year.

For an event tailored specifically for the family, there’s no better light display than the Safari Lights at the OKC Zoo. With over 50 themed wildlife sculptures that light up the night, your family will surely enjoy their evening spent at the zoo.
